Child/Elder Care

When disruptions happen and you need to get to work, back-up care through Bright Horizons is available.

Through Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™, you have access to:

  • Urgent or planned temporary child care
  • Adult and elder care needs
  • Over 3,000 high-quality child care centers plus screened in-home caregivers
  • A 24-hour contact center and website with experienced care consultants to coordinate all care arrangements

This benefit is subsidized by Citi for you to use when you have a work-related care issue.

The benefit can be used for back-up care for your spouse or domestic partner and children, your parents, in-laws and even grandparents, up to 20 days per dependent per calendar year.

iconCost of Services

The cost of the services depends on the type of care needed:

  • $30 per child or a maximum of $50 per family for a use of center-based child care
  • $6 per hour for in-home care services for any age, from children through elders (copayment covers up to 3 dependents)

Note: There is a four-hour minimum and up to a ten-hour maximum for in-home care.

iconImportant Note on Imputed Income

If I use the service, will I be subject to imputed income? Yes, the difference between the value of the services provided and the employee’s cost is considered imputed income and treated as taxable income. Applicable taxes are withheld directly from your paycheck for the additional imputed/taxable income.
