Tuition Program

To ease the financial burden of obtaining a college degree or professional certificate, Citi offers both tuition assistance and tuition reimbursement to eligible employees.

  • Tuition assistance: Citi will prepay eligible expenses, so you can pursue your education without any upfront costs.
  • Tuition reimbursement: Citi will reimburse you for eligible expenses you’ve already paid, upon the successful completion of your course.
  • Tuition discounts: Bright Horizons EdAssist offers exclusive discounts on tuition and fees at 220+ schools.
Who’s Eligible?

If you have at least 90 days of service with Citi and are a full-time or part-time employee scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week, you may be eligible for tuition reimbursement or assistance. Additional performance requirements apply. You also must be actively working for the duration of the course, at the time you submit your application and on the date any tuition reimbursement or assistance is paid. Refer to the Citi Tuition Program Guidelines for more details.

What Courses Qualify?

You may receive tuition assistance or reimbursement for fees associated with courses taken at an accredited college or university in the U.S. Courses that qualify for tuition assistance or reimbursement are:

  • All undergraduate and graduate degree-program courses
  • Certificate programs
  • Remedial courses that must be completed as a requirement of an accredited college or university prior to beginning a degree-related course that qualifies for reimbursement

You must earn a minimum grade of C minus or pass a “pass/fail” class to receive tuition reimbursement or to continue to be eligible for tuition assistance.

In addition to tuition for qualifying courses, Citi will cover fees that are both mandatory and directly related to and required for qualifying courses. These expenses may include:

  • Exam fees
  • Registration fees
  • Application fees
  • Readmission fees
  • Lab/technology fees
  • Graduation fees
  • Books

Refer to the Citi Tuition Program Guidelines for more details.

How Much Will Citi Pay?

Each calendar year, you may be eligible to receive up to a maximum of:

  • $5,250 for undergraduate degree courses and certificate programs
  • $7,500 for graduate degree courses and certificate programs

Note that IRS regulations allow up to $5,250 in employer-funded educational support to be exempt from taxation. Citi will withhold taxes from payment amounts for graduate work that exceed the limit.
